But does running make sense for the homeless, a population understandably much more concerned with finding food and shelter than a fitness routine? Temple University researchers are hoping to find out.

As the city that houses the second busiest train station in the Metro-North system after Grand Central Terminal, White Plains is a booming metropolis with businesses, retailers, and restaurants popping up all over. With nearly 57,000 residents and 250,000 visitors each day, "People get here by a number of means, because we are the junction point of most of the roads in the area," says Mayor Thomas M. Roach.
